Worried about DH LDL-Ps
« on: May 17, 2014, 08:11:33 AM »
Well, we've been wheat-free, low carb, high fat since last August. DH just had his NMR lipid panel:

He is on a statin (atorvastatin) and takes fish oil twice a day. I'm sure our PCP is going to say he needs a higher dosage, but seems to me that if the statin was going to be effective, it needs to lower the LDL-p (in particular the small LDL-p). Clearly, it isn't doing that and he's not getting the results we'd hoped for from the WOE.

Any thoughts?
I want him to ask the PCP to put him back on Nispan (or Slo-Nicacin over the counter) to see if that will help
DH is a lot more active than I am so I'd expect he'd have benefit from the exercise. I'm sure genes play a role.
