KerryGold butter + Canola oil Jimmy Moore post

Has anyone else seen this yet? Just saw it on Twitter

Another reason to read any and all labels! Funny enough, if you Google Kerry Gold and Canola oil, you'll find a history of things from 2011 including some Blog posts of people I hadn't been following.

Thanks for posting.   I'll have to make sure I don't accidentally buy that!

I have 2 packages in the freezer, but my most recent purchase is very spreadable...which surprised me.  I'll probably pitch it tonight when I get home and read butter labels a little more closely!!  ::)

Infuriating!

Guess I will stick with my locally produced organic butter from the Iowa Food Coop. It's delicious..............

My guess is that KG is selling all the butter they can make, and still not keeping up with demand.

Until they can boost production, selling a diluted product gets more tonnage out the door for the same cow input (and due to adulterating it with an industrial n-6 grain oil, puts more tonnage on careless shoppers).

The harm to their brand is not worth the extra money in my opinion.

Yes, but it was 100% butter wasn't it?

Yes, but with or without the canoli oil...it's a GMO product....not organic. There are other brands that might be much more worthy....just say'in....Kerrygold gave an impression that we wanted to believe in, but it  just didn't exist.

Well, dang.  I don't have a source for anything else right now where I am living.  The farmer I get raw milk from makes butter, but she salts it pretty heavily and I don't think that would be very good in my morning coffee.  I may be able to check and see if she could start making unsalted for me, but other than that I would have to drive to Atlanta, which is about an hour away and, well, it's Atlanta.  NO THANKS! Maybe I should just start using coconut oil alone in my coffee and get her butter for my veggies...

I saw that about Kerrygold as well.  I had been getting the tub kind at Sam's but they didn't have it this week when I stopped to get more.  They did have several kinds of cheeses however.  I'm going to check this at the grocery store when I shop later today.  As for stick butter...we've been buying ours at Aldi.  I'm not sure if it's grassfed, non-gmo etc. though.

Since my last post I've been to the grocery store.  I did buy a small container of Kerrygold butter (for table use not the sticks).  It is plain w/o canola oil.  This was a Publix in Central FL.  It's certainly pricey at Publix compared to what I was getting at Sam's when I was able to get it. Oh.well....just wanted to share this with you folks.

Yesterday I bought butter made by a farmer.  I bought it from the farmer, together with sour milk and cheese. The butter had been made 3 days before. It tastes great.

I wish there is a farm market that sells real butter close by me. I do buy Kerrygold (pure butter) at Sam's.

I don't use anything else other than Kerrygold pure butter.

Thanks to this thread, I now make sure to check my Kerrygold.  I, too, wish I had a farm near by to get healthier items directly.
