While few, if any of us, consume much soda on this site....this is an interesting trend by Big-Food.

Still contains sugar (17g), and you don't need the phosphoric acid. Get your caffeine without junk by drinking coffee. In the UK the sugar is apparently actual sucrose. I have no guesses on what it will be in the US.

Coke doesn't get it. Also, they're fouling the nest. It will be harder to fix this later. This is a new variation on the New Coke blunder.

Even if they made a purely stevia-sweetened cola, they'd likely repeat the mistake made by the existing stevia pop (Zevia), which is setting the taste target too sweet for people who have abandoned sugar pop.

Further remarks added 2015-05-22:

Even strictly stevia-sweetened, these products also present hazards from:
  • non-native halogens in the water used (fluorides, chlorides & often bromates)
  • Bpa in the can liner or plastic bottle
  • elemental aluminum exposure at the can lid
  • food coloring
Source Perrier in a glass bottle might be OK.
Turns out it's not just ostentation,
although the ostentatious probably don't realize that.
