Anyone have suggestions to heal a potential scar?
« on: December 11, 2014, 08:36:29 PM »
I broke out with a case of shingles on my nose just after Labor Day.   The shingles are now gone, although there is still some redness there.  It also looks like there will be scarring along the side of my nose.

Any suggestions?

I used Mederma on a scar once and it helped. You can get it at any drugstore.

I've also heard you can open a vitamin E gelcap and rub it on the scar.

Back when my boys had chicken pox (over 30 years ago) I opened capsules of goldenseal, mixed the powder with water and dabbed it on each pox mark several times per day.(it gets crusty when it dries)....they both had fairly severe cases and  to this day, neither has residual scarring. Other anti-scarring treatments are vitamin E oil (in my day we used it to prevent stretch marks when pregnant), colloidal silver, aloe, and of course......coconut oil! Scarring can result in a one to two year healing process, or so I've been told.

I had two thoughts....aloe oil directly from the plant might work.  I used it on our daughter when she was a teen for a burn that she got from leaning againest a hot car with shorts on.  I know it's a burn but it really did heal it and quickly.

The other thought I had was to break open Vitamin E supplements and put directly on the spot.  Hope you find an answer!
