Avocado Oil
« on: May 18, 2013, 12:18:19 PM »
I was just at Costco and saw they were selling avocado oil.  The label said it was good for high temp cooking.

Anyone know anything about avocado oil?

I don't really know about high temp cooking but my DH and I like cooking with avocado oil.  For us, it works like EVOO.  I had better results with my pancakes using avocado oil as oppossed to coconut oil.

I would describe the taste as more 'green' than true buttery avocado.  Don't ask me what I mean by 'green' but that's the only thing I can come up with and hubby agrees; maybe more like a strong olive oil.  It was very mild and disappeared into the food if it was strongly flavored (like the pancakes with syrup; I make almond flour ones).  If you like avocados and olives themselves you should like it, we do.
