Basic Bread recipe
« on: May 29, 2013, 12:56:25 PM »
Greetings to all!  I'm a newbie here but glad to have a place to discuss this new way of eating and living!

I made my first batch of basic bread last night and am wondering if you really have to use 5 eggs??  It burps up real eggy, if you know what i mean.  The other person who ate it with me had serious belching and felt it sticking in her chest at first before it finally left.  I'm just burping the egg taste a bit more than I'd like though I love eggs.

Thanks for your comments and advice!

Welcome to the forum Gem.   I personally have not made or tasted the bread.   I'll be curious what others say.

I made the basic bread recipe twice. I did
use the five eggs and like the taste. I slice
the bread and freeze it in individual slices.
It has a nutty taste that is not unpleasant.
I have also toasted it and added natural
Peanut butter...next to try as a topping
...cream cheese!!

Hi and welcome. Glad your enjoying this forum. It's best IMHO to make the recipes and then tweak them to your liking. Good luck on your journey.

I make this recipe periodically. The eggs are primarily to get the bread to rise.  I think you could probably try using fewer eggs and see what happens.  I'd get rid of one to start and see if that makes a huge difference in the way the loaf rises.  I have found alot of other bread recipes I'd like to try, that I think I might like better than this, but just haven't found the time to try them yet.

Thanks for the input!  I am looking for other recipes for bread as well and have one to try.  I'll let you know how things work out with removing the eggs, one at a time.

Happy eating to all! :D

Here's an interesting article on what causes 'eggy burps' for some people:

Thanks, Rita.  I checked out the article but most of that didn't apply to my "burping eggy" after eating WB ( 5-Eggy) Basic Bread!  Ha!  :D   Perhaps less eggs will make for less eggy burping, eh?   :)
