Exposure to wheat after a wheat free period
« on: June 11, 2013, 03:34:58 PM »
Just wondering if anyone who has been
wheat free for a period and have been exposed
to wheat have experienced distressing
symptoms? I have been wheat free since
the end of Feburary and eat out at least
once each week. This past weekend after
eating out, I experienced abdominal distress,
slight headache, brain "fog" and terrible mood
swings. Is this really possible?

Ditto.   I just went on a trip and due to lack of planning with a lack of options there, along with just wanting to go out to the same places as other people, I caved and had wheat items almost everyday for 3 days.

When I got back I had a dull headache all day, brain fog, and indigestion.   I'm on track again as of yesterday morning.

I accidentally got "wheated" yesterday when I had a mandarin chicken salad that someone in my department brought in. Didn't realize until too late that it had some wonton noodles in it. I didn't eat that many, but I had some relatively mild GI distress and a slight headache after that.

I was wheated several months ago when we went to an Italian restaurant. I was so busy making sure the sauce in my eggplant Parmesan had no wheat in it that I completely forgot that the eggplant is always breaded. I was almost finished with my meal when I realized!! When I got up in the middle of the night for a bathroom break, I was quite dizzy...then just felt groggy the next day...brain fog I suppose.

This is me exactly.  It's not intolerable but definitely noticeable and uncomfortable.  :(

I think we got wheated last night. We went to a family birthday party and my uncle fixed fajitas. I thought he was going to grill them, but instead he made them in a skillet. He marinated the meat w/ Worcestershire, likely contained wheat. Then he added a seasoning packet. I checked the packet and it did not list wheat. Today I've been really sluggish w/ a bit of brain fog. It's kind of like losing a day.
