Hi from Mistyblue
« on: April 20, 2013, 06:57:33 AM »
I started my Wheat free journey about 6 weeks
ago, after reading Wheat Belly.I have lost 8 lbs
and notice a change in body shape.
I haven't noticed a big change
in my health. I am overall healthy but have
been experiencing a problem with swelling,
discomfort in one leg and most recently a
constant ringing in one ear. Also experiencing
a lot of workplace stress so this may be impeding
weightless and improved well being?
Any thoughts?

Welcome Mistyblue.  Congrats on the 8 pound weight loss.

I would go see a doctor, especially since swelling is in one leg.  ( I just would want to make sure it isn't some kind of clot or something ).

I also had ringing in my ear. Was told by holistic MD that it was inflammation. She advised me to quit the wheat. As I've continued on my path back to health the ringing is gone. I have been wheat free for a year this month. It was hard at first but once I read Dr Davis' book it was a snap. My husband also went wheat free. He didn't even finish the book! I got a small fan for the noise so I could sleep.

I had trouble with leg cramps at first, which I guess isn't all that uncommon when switching to low carb. I took magnesium for a while and made sure I got enough potassium, and it's pretty much subsided now. Hang in there! I had the opposite happen; not much weight loss but all my blood work looks better now - cholesterol, triglycerides, etc. We are a work in progress!  ;D
