General Discussion / American Diabetis Association

Rarely do we get an opportunity to effect change......but this  may be one of those times. Richard Feinlein, the author of 'The World Turned Upside Down' posted the following link this morning. It's an oppportunity to tell the ADA, as well as your elected reps that the dietary strategies this organization promotes cause/exacerbate the very disease they say they're attempting to mitigate. Write your own verbiage, but get the message out there. Share with blogs, forums, FB pages etc. I hope it goes viral but not in the way the ADA expects.

General Discussion / Parasites
« on: April 23, 2015, 07:30:42 AM »
My husband has been dealing with a chronic diarrhea situation since the first of the first we thought it was just a viral thing as we'd had lots of houseguests with intestinal/stomach bugs over the winter. Then it would go away and resurface a few weeks later.....our ND/acupuncturist put him on a parasite cleanse which took a month and a half and he seemed to get better.....only to have the condition return again. At this point we went to an internist who did some fecal tests which came back he used words like: IBS, colitis etc. and made a referral for a colonoscopy (which we couldn't get till the end of May). In the meantime, I found an infectious disease/internist and we went last Tuesday.....he re-checked all prior test results, found several severely lacking and initiated a battery of new tests. He stated pretty firmly that this was indeed a parasite infestation, and while he's fairly certain which group it is, he's waiting for the results before he prescribes a treatment protocol. The bottom line is that we live in the tropics, we have lots of bugs and bacteria which colder climates don't have.....we swim and snorkel in the ocean....walk on the beach, walk around barefooted etc. He indicated lots of colitis, IBS diagnosis are really untreated parasite infestations.

We loved this guy, he spent over an hour with us!....he thinks outside the supportive of our diet (he said, "cool") and agreed to be our family doctor. The best news is that there is an end in site!
