Eve, I remember reading that bananas and melons are among the highest in sugar. I love bananas, so when I go to the store I only buy 1 banana, and I usually buy groceries only every two weeks. DH and I share a piece of fruit (portion control) and always eat it with something else...nuts or something.

Thanks for helping to clear this up. I got on the scale a few days ago and 2 more lbs are gone. That makes a total of 28 lbs since Sept 2012. So I really don't think the fruit got in my way.

Eve, I don't have my book w/ me either, but from memory...WB recommends fruit only in limited amounts. We now have 1/2 piece of fruit with breakfast and that's normally it for the day. We share a banana, an apple, or an orange, or have a small bowl of cantaloupe. And all fruits are not created equal...some have more sugars than others.

Thanks for clearing that up for me.  I had thought berries were ok. I am a fruit lover! Its like chocolate is to others , so this no fruit news was very sad to me!  I loaned my daughter my book, she has bad tummy issues and I am trying to get her to give this a 30 try, so I don't want to rush her with my book.

What does coconut cream taste like?  I'll have to look for that.
The first one I had tasted like nothing. Last time I got Trader Joe's and it has a hint of coconut taste. I take a spoonful of it sometimes (just plain)

I don't really get why people keep searching for 'safe' wheat. Why not just dump it and move on to the healthy stuff.

I didn't realize. The Wheat Belly book opened my eyes to the GMO and what I was actually eating. That book changed my life. I had heard of the health food nuts many years but i never got it till I read the book. Now I am a health food nut for the most part. Before more money comes in and I have no food its very hard. I am hoping that its a matter of learning how to shop.

You'll end up with butter before meal / flour.

I was just told fruit was a no no !  I didnt realize this, I have had lots of fruit since starting WB , this is going to be the hardest thing for me to do. I am still learning also.  I have lost 26 LBS while eating fruit

I eat two to three small portions of fresh fruit every day. I don't do juice however. It might be the concentration of fruit in the juice that can cause a problem. But I don't think eating a moderate amount of fruit should stall weight loss. I'm not having any problems with it so far. I'll be mindful of it though.

I was not sure the person who told me I couldn't have fruit knows best. I have my book out on loan so I cant look that up.

I just realized I'm eating too many carbs by having juice every morning. We make our own every  morning. So delicious. I'm new to WF -still learning. I've lost 8 lbs in 6 weeks so hopefully by cutting my carbs I will lose more!  Thank you this site!!!

We're having leftovers. Last nite I made stuffed bell peppers & salad.
Cut off top of peppers (red, green, yellow, orange) & clean inside. Finely dice edible portions of tops. Dice onion. Cook hamburger (we are fortunate to have freezer full of grass fed beef). Brown beef, drain any fat. Sautť onions & peppers then add beef. Season with ground thyme. Let mixture cool. Fill bottom of peppers with feta cheese. About 1T.  Add beef mixture up to half then add another tablespoon feta. Fill with beef pressing down. Bake for approx 1 hour. Sprinkle feta on top. Serve!!
There are so many variations to this recipe. Italian, Mexican
Made spinach salad on side.

What temp do you cook this at?

I was searching online what I could eat that was wheat free and ran into wheat belly. Thank goodness! It sure has made my shopping easy!

Can you think of any dietary changes you made a month ago?    A new food or a new drink?  Or do you have a new lotion or laundry detergent?


The only thing new I can think of is I had some coconut water, that I have never in my life had. But I have had coconut chips, coconut flakes and coconut flour. Oh and I changed cooking to coconut oil from the start of wheat belly, and I use fractionated coconut oil in my coffee and been using fractionated before I knew wheat belly for skin and with my essential oils.

I have been taking Vitamin D for years 10000 IU
fish oil for years  1000 mg
Last Jan I started taking Mega-Zyme and magnesium as Dr Davis recommends

I had a hard time finding the kelp, I bet that was about a month ago that I found kelp and ran out of Magnesium and the store didn't have any. so I started kelp and stopped magnesium.

You know maybe I have to switch that back for now. Thanks for making me think that through.

 Last July and Aug 2012 I came to the realization that I had been suffering over a year with female issues that my GP was just not having any luck helping me with.  Every test she tried came back negative.  I was in tears a lot. With no help to be had I had a farfetched idea that maybe weight was my problem. I started thinking about when my brother was allergic to peanut butter his reaction to it was gaining weight. In 2010 I was given an allergy test for my asthma. I got this list of all things I was allergic to and wheat was on this list. At the time my Dr told me not to worry about the less than whole numbers and wheat was like .05. Oct 2012 I started having what I thought to be major issues with my digestive system with bleeding. I had digestive issues all my life but never bleeding. I got on Google and started searching about digestive issues and I kept running into wheat causing digestive issues. I decided to do a test for the month of Sep of going wheat free. By week 2 I already decided wheat was out of my life for good. My head cleared of a fog feeling that I never realized I had. My water retention problem was just gone. I didnít feel bloated anymore. I had energy like never before. I had big problems at the store reading labels, my eyes are bad and the words so small. I got on Google again looking for what I could eat and ran into Wheat Belly, I switched over to wheat belly. Mostly because I didnít need to read all the labels in the store!  My female issues went away for about a month or two; my digestive issues didnít go away but much improved.
About a month ago I crashed or something, my head is foggy, I am drained of energy, and I could sleep all day. I do sleep whenever I get the chance.  I have noticed a little water retention, my female issues are back but not as bad, my digestive issues are back. I donít understand where I messed up. I havenít had any grains that I know of since last September. I have not changed anything that I can put my finger on.
Has anyone else had a crash like this or any ideas what could be going on?

That's so funny you mentioned the 12 step program!  My step daughter has just started the WB journey.....and is going through withdrawal with heavy carb cravings.....I told her to call me night or day and I'll help her through it.....like an AA buddy!

I was told to have a teaspoon of coconut oil when I have cravings and that did the trick!

I have a question.   I've made the chia pudding with soy milk and with coconut milk.


I'm not sure if it's just me, but it seems that the coconut milk is making it thicker than the soy milk.  Anyone else notice this?


( Like I said... it could just be me, or perhaps the batch of chia I have ).

I added more coconut milk to mine, it sure filled me up a long time!  I thought soy was out because of GMO for some reason. I could be wrong. I am allergic to soy so I may have just not taken that information in right.

Welcome eve! I'm working on getting to the point where I don't have to read any more labels either. It's going to take awhile, but I'll get there. It sounds like you're doing very well with this way of eating. Congrats on the 26 lost pounds as well as all the other health benefits you're enjoying.

Thanks for the welcome!  I just buy very little with a label on it now. I also try to look for the word organic. However its killing my pocket! I take my "Dirty Dozen" card with me for produce.  I started avoiding GMO's also in Sept, so it was a bit of a challenge.  I am not sure I got it down just right yet, but I figure I am better at shopping now than last year, I still have much to learn.  I have been searching for Wheat Belly Buddies and even started a Facebook Page to find buddies! I was very excited to get the heads up on this page :)  I have never been on a diet in my life, so I didn't even count on loosing weight! Not that I am upset about the loss.

I think in time we will get it all figured out and it will become second nature.

I sure would like to learn "Wheat Belly On A Budget"!  My grown daughter NEEDS to be on this but she just cant afford it.

I have been grain free since last Sept. I started out to go wheat free for an allergy, but the labels were so hard to read with my old eyes! I ran into Wheat Belly and ran with it. No more trying to read labels since not much of what I buy has labels! Sometimes I seem to get lost and it was recomended that I come here from the wheat belly blog. So here I am!  Oh I am also down 26lbs! Now that's a bonus on top of the other things this has helped me with.
