Title: Porridge oats

Is it ok to eat porridge for breakfast.....it says wheat free/ gluten free on the package  :)

The problem is that oats are highly glycemic, meaning it raises your blood sugar quickly and keeps your liver utilizing the sugar instead of fats for energy.
Wheat Belly by Dr. Davis discusses this at great length.

Hi Deena and welcome!

I concur with Barbara, and wanted to let you know there are many options that are grain free - so many good recipe blogs out there, cooking without grains or sugar! 

Take a look:



Sometimes I just mix a bit of ground flaxseed, with a bit of chia seed and some sweetener and hot cream - mix and eat quickly, as it thickens very fast and is extremely filling, so just make a little bit.  But in a pinch, it satisfies that craving for something we've become fond of.  As time goes by and you eat grain free for a long time, those cravings disappear. 

Bacon and eggs, that's the ticket!   ;D

Welcome, Deena.  If you have access to a glucose meter, you might take a reading about 1 1/2 hours after eating and see what it does to you.  If you are spiking badly, you might want to look at those recipes of Barb's.

Thanks all for your comments :) im hoping that going wheat free will help with the pain of inflammation. I'm halfway thru the WB book.....I can't put it down .thanks for the link to the recipe website to....Iv saved it....lots of nice ideas there ....so thanks again peeps 😜
